(im)mature is the brain-child of two best friends, Stephanie Spector and Ruthy Froch. The women met and quickly discovered that they are artistic soulmates. Stephanie and Ruthy bonded over a mutual desire to create a series that accurately portrays the real, complex lives of diverse young people living in New York City. They are inspired by their peers' struggles to come into adulthood and want to give them the opportunity to see their dreams, fears, struggles and failures reflected back in a relatable way.
Both Ruthy and Stephanie feel that the shows on TV right now do not accurately reflect themselves or their peers. They came together to create something that matters to young people like them and to tell stories that do not always get told in mainstream media.
